Country Life April 14th 1900
Cragside was a well known house and garden by 1900 and although Lady Armstrong had died in 1893 the world was still watching, and it comes as no surprise that Country Life Illustrated covered the home of Lord William Armstrong in their April edition.
As well as featuring photographs of the estate and house, the article covers others areas of importance to Armstrong:
"Altogether the estate covers over 14,000 acres...the house is supplied with water from lakes ...and the water pressure is used to drive dynamos supplying the mansion with electric light, and furnishing power to a turbine which is used for the purpose of compression in the silo on the home farm at Crag End, where Lord Armstrong has large herds of Shorthorns and Jerseys.
