Happy New Year!

Ours has got off to a good start with new kid goats born in January.

Well worth the effort!

Betty, a hand reared Bagot goat has mothered the first kid ‘ Nanny’  of 2023 at Cragend Farm. A great success story, not just because she is one of only 400 breeding Bagot Nannys in the world, but she was orphaned at 3 weeks old and had to be hand-reared to make sure she was fit and strong enough to go back to the herd. She is very tame and friendly, willing to give nose kisses and cuddles.  It makes all the time spent on months of 2 hourly feeds well worth it. Rocky, the father and senior  Billy has fathered five beautiful kid goats this year so far, three nannys  and two billys.

Cragend Farm Bagot goats roam the hillside of The Coquet Valley doing fantastic conservation work grazing on gorse, bramble and rough grasses. The hilly, craggy landscape suits them and they enjoy leaping around on the large glacial rocks that litter the slopes.

The goats can be visited by booking on a tour or when staying at Cragend Farm holiday Accommodation B&B and holiday cottages.
