Cragside is a National Trust property that has beautiful gardens and walks, as well as a magnificent house to visit. 

Cragend Farm is the Model Farm of Lord Armstrong of Cragside and is situated next door. Privately owned Cragend Farm can be visited for tours by appointment. We also have accommodation offering you the opportunity to stay in an original Armstrong  farmworkers cottage, or dairy.

Cragside has a hydraulic pump house powered by water as well as an elevator and a rotisserie powered by water. The Power House is located in the grounds and houses the Turbine that provided electricity for the house in 1880's which you can explore.

There are also two turbines from neighbouring farms that have been conserved and a water wheel from anotherwhere it shows that Cragend Farm also has machinery insitu

Cragend Farm has a hydraulic jig in situ that lifts 18 x 1 ton weights and a 3 HP turbine in its listed Grade II* Hydraulic Silo once powered by water from The Blackburn Reservoir, and  also a 30 HP turbine that powered milling threshing and grinding machines in the barn, and most importantly is the power source for The Silo offering 200ft Head of water.
