Silo Snap

This photo is, as yet, one of the earliest photos we have of the Silo (as most older pictures where of the view looking at the farm and excluded it; mainly, we think, because there was no panoramic photography back then to capture such a long range of buildings). It shows the north facing wall with the two doors, and the massive hole in the roof which we repaired in 2013. It dates from c1970 pre-electricity at the farm as there are no electricity poles. The slate roof of the farmhouse is being re-tiled with concrete tiles.

The hole in the roof was apparently a skylight, of which there are two. The  glass was broken in a storm in the 1930's and not repaired, hence the internal  damage to the building, from the years of rain water entering the building from the roof.

It is the first photograph we have found that was taken on the north side, in the same place we like to take photos fo the farm from. The Silo field is high enough to take a good overall photo of the whole farm, as our cover photo proved.
