Visit our Grade II* listed Silo designed and built by Lord William Armstrong of Cragside, and take a tour around this Ancient Farm that is filled with history going back to the Bronze Age.

Tours comprise of the following:

  • Welcome Briefing including tea and coffee.
  • Short history of Cragend Farm pre-1850
  • Why Cragend Farm is linked to Cragside
  • Use of stone work to demonstrate the old buildings being used by Armstrong to recreate the new buildings.
  • Plans for the future 
  • Silo visit and discussion.
  • Opportunity to enter the different floors of the Silo building (optional).
  • Farmhouse, Courtyard, weigh bridge, and dairy  and viewing of our larger museum artefacts.
  • Cragend Grange turbine and machine room.
  • Further conversation, viewing of our museum artefacts and other information, PowerPoints etc.
  • Any questions?

Toilet facilities are available. Sturdy shoes recommended. There are uneven areas and steps.
